(Generally
speaking) Everyone needs a Sunday. That day of the week where
you don't eat breakfast until after 10am, run around like a mad-hatter for the
rest of the morning completing errands and then plunk
yourself down in a coffee-shop for some serious reading. Hopefully, the
personal enjoyment kind and not the
pathetically-euphemistic "enrichment" kind.
Today was
that type of Sunday. I slept in and then tackled my imposing to-do list:
laundry, sweep room, dishes, fold horizontal closet back into the vertical
closet, make a few days’ worth of rice-oatmeal, non-food groceries ...you get
the picture. While my mum may beg to differ, I love doing errands.
Especially in one fell swoop. There is something intrinsically
liberating about looking at a list of uncompleted activities and going check,
check, check, check, check, check! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. What a sense of
accomplishment.
The easiest of
the errands to complete on my list was: Make bed. So, whilst I was at
that, I decided to post a little peak into my dorm room. Both my
Degenerate Art Ensemble (DAE) poster and whimsy pennants were new additions
this week. If anyone has suggestion on what else I could/should add to my room
decor, you are welcome to share! Organized clutter makes me happy :)
Laundry
in the dorms is an ordeal that I think should be reserved for those who end up
in 5th circle of the Inferno. To simply wash ONE load of laundry it takes
about 30-45minutes. And keep in mind I am an eco-freak. I wash everything in cold to warm water and use about 1/2 the detergent called for on
the bottle per load. I figure that unless I am doing some serious gymnastics in
my clothing or hanging out in the dirt, my clothes never actually get dirty
enough to require super-sudsation.
Returning
back to my point, after my loads of laundry finished in the washer, I was in no
frame of mind to patiently wait for the dryer to dink around with spinning the
water out of my knickers. Everything got an old fashioned air-dry back up
in the room! (And I inadvertently saved energy in the process. You lose some,
you win some). I pretty much gathered together all of my hangers not in
use and hung all of my textile possessions throughout the room.
Underwear by cabinet handles, shirts off the edge of the bed, pajamas and
pants tucked into the crack between the mattress and the bed frame. It is
amazing how inventive one becomes when put into pressing situations. Mum,
you were right. In university, somehow you just get by.
Now, I am kicking my feet up
at Break Espresso in downtown Missoula. They have a wide variety of
in-house made desserts/snacks, many of which are vegan, and coffee that 1x102
times better than the stuff on campus. It reminds me a bit of Vivace Espresso
in Seattle. Earthy, scholarly vibe and FREE Wi-fi. Life is way too
short to pay for Wi-fi mis amigos!
Currently, I am munching on a raspberry oat bar
while reading up on Chaos and String Theory. I need to
"magically" write an argument explaining how Taoist doctrine
(primarily presented in Tao Te
Ching) and Christian doctrine (as presented in The Book of Job) speak to chaos
theory. To simplify a bit: Truth and Wisdom cannot be attained
through logic or reason. Essentially weirdness and disorder
rule and no human imposed laws can create order from it. F.
Scott Fitzgerald said something along the lines of this:
"One should...be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be
determined to make them otherwise."
Life really is Alice
in Wonderland, eh? Would anyone like to volunteer to edit this paper?
Do I have taker? Going once, twice, thrice...
Regardless, signing off with: I swear to tell the
truth and nothing by the truth so help me chaos,
Cheers, kaite ;]
Last 2 posts have been great! Good thing your roommate goes home for the weekend.
